Overview
Our Wellness Visit options include:
- Adult Preventative Visit - a yearly appointment, for ages 21 to 64, intended to prevent illnesses and detect health concerns early, before symptoms are noticeable.
- Medicare Annual Wellness Visit - a yearly preventative visit to reduce your risk for illness or injury for ages 65 and older.
- Well-Child/Teen Visit - for children ages birth to 21-years-old and are covered by most insurances.
- General Office Visit - to discuss new or existing health issues including chronic medical conditions, symptoms, or any health concerns you may have.
During your visit, the team will meet with you on your specific area needs and can provide routine care including health screenings, vaccinations, and preventative care visits. They can also diagnose and treat a wide range of injuries and illnesses. If you require specialty care, your primary care provider will make referrals and coordinate all your health care needs.
Over time, your provider will get to know you and your health history. Building a long-term relationship with your care team can improve your ability to maintain your health and quality of life.
What if you have preventive and non-preventive services during your visit?
Preventative care is often covered 100% by your health plan. On the other hand, for most non-preventive care you’ll pay a share of the costs. It depends on your plan’s co-pay, deductible and co-insurance.
Commercial health insurance plans such as Medica, Blue Cross Blue Shield or Medicare Advantage plans may offer benefits each year for preventive care. Traditional Medicare does not have this benefit.
Check with your health insurance company to see how your plan covers preventive and non-preventive care. You can find the phone number or website on the back of your health insurance card.

Preventive Care:
- Can help keep you healthy
- Screen for certain types of cancer
- Immunize you against disease
- Are received once per year or as recommended by your doctor
Examples include: Most immunizations, eye exams, screenings for cancer, general medical exams, prenatal care, and screenings for other health-related concerns.
Non-Preventive Care:
- Check existing conditions
- Diagnose and treat a new condition
- Address any health concerns you bring up during your visit
Examples include: Treatment of illness or injury, X-rays, medication consults, wart removal, earwax removal, and to check ongoing, chronic conditions.
