Christie Erickson, DNP, MBA, APRN, CNP, FAANP, is the Primary Care Essentia Medical Group (EMG) chair. Christie has been an integral part of EMG since its inception and will now lead efforts to develop evidence-based clinical practices, drive innovation, enhance efficiency, and ensure quality improvement.
Christie’s extensive experience at Essentia Health began in 2006 as a Nurse Practitioner (NP). Over the years, she has held several leadership positions, including associate division chair of the Primary Care Urgent Care and Virtual Team in 2021, director of APRN/PA Services since 2019, and director of the Transition-to-Practice Program since 2017. Christie’s leadership has been pivotal in advancing the roles of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs).
With a bachelor of arts in Nursing from St. Olaf College, a master’s in nursing, and a doctorate of nursing practice from the College of St. Scholastica, Christie recently earned her MBA from the University of Wisconsin in 2024. Her academic and professional journey underscores her commitment to integrating technological advances and patient-centered care. She is particularly enthusiastic about virtual tools, including patient journeys, virtual visits, and AI-enhanced care tools, which she believes will transform health care delivery.
Christie’s contributions extend beyond Essentia Health. She has developed the APRN/PA Transition to Practice Program and established a rural NP residency program in collaboration with local graduate nursing programs. Recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, she is a respected educator and speaker, having presented at various conferences and published articles on telehealth and APRN/PA education.
Residing in Hermantown with her husband and three sons, Christie balances her professional and personal responsibilities, continuing to inspire and influence the next generation of healthcare providers.
