Essentia Health is pleased to announce Dr. Devendranath "Dev" Reddy Mannuru as the new chief medical officer for our West Market. Dr. Mannuru succeeds Dr. Richard Vetter, who served in the same capacity for six years.

"Dr. Mannuru's passion for health care, medical education and extensive expertise, coupled with his collaborative and mentorship-oriented approach, are valuable additions to our team," said Dr. Stefanie Gefroh, Essentia's West Market president. "His leadership and training in patient experience is also an invaluable asset in helping all we serve feel safe and cared for."

Since moving to Fargo in 2013, Dr. Mannuru has dedicated the last 12 years to working as a hospitalist and to various academic and clinical administrative roles at Sanford Health in Fargo and the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

He has extensive leadership experience, including serving as core faculty and associate program director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program in Fargo. Dr. Mannuru also has been a core faculty member of the UND Transitional Year Residency Program for the past decade. A strong proponent of undergraduate medical education, Dr. Mannuru has served as statewide clerkship director for the Department of Internal Medicine at UND for seven years.

"I am honored to be a part of the Essentia Health team, and in such a critical role," he said. "Throughout my career, I've remained committed to mentorship, quality, patient experience and safety. I look forward to collaborating closely with my colleagues and learning from our patients, as it is through this work that I can do my part to ensure they have access to the highest quality of care, our colleagues have the best work experience and that our work aligns with our mission and values."

In addition to his leadership responsibilities, Dr. Mannuru will serve as a hospitalist at Essentia Health-Fargo and will continue to support medical education by maintaining his status as a clinical associate professor at UND.

Dr. Mannuru obtained his medical degree from JSS Medical College in India and completed his internal medicine residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in the Bronx, New York. Additionally, he participated in a year-long Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School.
