Community Contributions

Essentia Health has a more than 20-year history of investing in communities across our service area. We support projects and programs that improve health in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.

In FY23, Essentia Health contributed more than $1.7 million dollars to 140 non-profit organizations in the communities we are privileged to serve.

We prioritize contributions to non-profit organizations working to address social determinants of health in four key priority areas. Below are a few examples of projects and programs we have been proud to support.

 

Economic Stability (Housing, Workforce, Childcare, Healthy Food)

• Brewery Creek – a 52-unit affordable housing apartment complex in partnership with One Roof Community Housing
• SOAR Career Solutions’ Subsidized Employment Services
• Increasing child-care efforts in Fosston with Prairie Pines Childcare Center
• Supporting access to fresh, healthy foods at farmers markets in Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, Duluth & Grand Rapids.

Access to Education and Healthy Youth Development (Reduction of adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and asset building for youth)

• CornerStone Community and Youth Center in Frazee. View video to learn more.
• Technology Hub for students in Deer River
• Building resilience and community through youth mentorship programming with Mentor North
• After School educational support and summer camps for New American Youth in Fargo with South Sudanese Foundation

Access to Right Time, Right Place Healthcare (Increase access to comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services)

• Free youth dental services with Just Kids Dental
• Chum’s Health and Wellness Center

Neighborhood Improvements that Promote Health and Safety (neighborhood and environmental changes)

• City of Ashland East End Park Rehabilitation Project
